Consomètre

Our methodology

Every figure published on Consomètre comes with its method. These are the rules we apply to all our studies.

Provisional text, currently being validated by the association.

Who responds?

Most Consomètre surveys are open to anyone aged 18 or over living in Burkina Faso. The link is shared on WhatsApp, Facebook and through the association's contacts in markets and regional branches.

What this implies

These samples are self-selected: they are not representative of the national population. We say so clearly on every results page, and we never publish a national figure without a suitable sample.

Quality control

  • Removal of duplicate responses and incomplete questionnaires.
  • Detection of responses that are too fast or inconsistent.
  • Minimum threshold of 30 responses to publish a survey's results; any waiver must be justified and logged, and the sample size (n) is always shown.

Provisional and final results

A result is “provisional” while the survey is open or the analysis has not been validated. It becomes “final” after closing, quality control and validation by the association's studies committee.

What we publish

  • Population and recruitment method.
  • Sample size (n) and collection period.
  • Any weighting and its variables.
  • Known limitations of the study.

Independence

Studies carried out at the request of partners follow a public charter: no promotional questions, the client is named, and results of general interest are published.
